Born Zendaya Coleman, the actress and singer began her career as a child model. She landed her first TV role as Rocky Blue on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, which aired from 2010 to 2013. She also starred in the network’s 2012 movie Frenemies and signed a deal with Disney’s music label, Hollywood Records, which released her self-titled debut album in 2013.
That same year, Zendaya competed on season 16 of Dancing With the Stars, finishing as the runner-up with her pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. After Shake It Up was canceled, she starred in another Disney Chanel series, K.C. Undercover, from 2015 to 2018.
Zendaya made her big-screen debut in the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming. She reprised her role as MJ in the 2019 and 2021 sequels, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, respectively. Her other movie credits include 2017’s The Greatest Showman and 2021’s Dune.
Zendaya received critical acclaim for her role as teen drug addict Rue Bennett on the HBO drama Euphoria, which premiered in 2019. The starring role made the then-24-year-old the youngest actress to earn an Emmy for best lead actress in a drama series in September 2021.
Zendaya dated her Euphoria cast mate Jacob Elordi from 2019 to 2020. She was linked to her Spider-Man costar Tom Holland from 2017 to 2018, and they reunited by July 2021, which is when photos of the two packing on the PDA in a car in Los Angeles were published.
