Kanye West Mocks Himself in SNL Rap Battle With Kyle Mooney
Doing what he does best. Kanye West took part in a hilarious rap battle with Kyle Mooney on Saturday Night Live on February 13.
In the clip, titled “Kyle vs. Kanye,” the 38-year-old MC rapped a portion of his song, “I Love Kanye,” which is also featured on his new album, The Life of Pablo.
The skit kicked off with clips of Mooney, 31, preparing for the epic freestyle face-off.
“My goal here is for people all around the world to look at me and go, ‘Wait a second. That’s hip-hop!” the comedian explained to the cameras. “Hip-hop culture has always been so important to me. I even taught myself how to breakdance, and I was good! Really, really, really, really, really, really, really good.”
When the duo finally met, Mooney rapped, “Kanye West, you need a mint for your Kanye breath. And when I’m done with you, there’s gonna be no Kanyes left,” as the fashion designer watched, completely stone-faced.
At the end of the SNL cast member’s rap, West loudly replied, “I hate the new Kanye. The always rude Kanye. The bad mood Kanye,” before adding, “I love you like Kanye loves Kanye,” and walking away as the clear winner.
