Des Hasler is a former professional rugby league footballer and current head coach in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Born on February 16, 1961, in Gosford, New South Wales. Hasler grew up in a rugby league family and played his junior football with the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Des Hasler played professional rugby league for several clubs throughout his career, including the Penrith Panthers and the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He was known for his versatility and played multiple positions such as halfback, lock, and hooker.

Hasler represented Australia in 12 test and World Cup matches between 1985 and 1991, and played 13 State of Origin matches for New South Wales. He also played for Hull F.C. in the English Rugby League Premiership during the 1993 off-season, and returned to the Manly club for the 1995 and 1996 seasons, winning his second premiership with the team in 1996.

After 257 games for Manly over 12 seasons, he signed with the Western Suburbs Magpies for the 1997 season before retiring at the end of the year.

Des Hasler began his coaching career in 1996 as an assistant coach at the North Sydney Bears. In 2004, he was appointed head coach of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and led them to the NRL semi-finals for three consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2007.
